Treadmill Walking For Exercise

,
Workout Routines To Lose Weight :

On any given day you'll meet someone who isn't satisfied with his or her current weight or physical fitness. Exercise is a hot topic for discussion in our busy lives. With so many people wanting to lose weight there has been a mass proliferation of diets and folks counting calories in an attempt to shred the pounds through a decrease in food intake. Typically these fad diets only work for a short amount of time and then result in a bigger weight gain and unhealthy lifestyle once the participant decides to forgo the diet. For folks wanting to really lose weight and stay fit at the same time the key ingredient is plain old exercise. That's a simple fact and truthfully just walking on a treadmill for 20-30 minutes each morning or evening will do wonders for your health, weight and self-esteem.

Many people confuse elaborate workout programs and a self imposed marathon session of running as the holy grail to serious weight loss but the truth is a treadmill and walking for exercise is all that's really needed to achieve the desired level of fitness you aspire to have. Walking in and of itself is a very simple exercise that is easy to do on a regular basis each and everyday. Folks that embrace and regularly partake in treadmill walking for their exercise program will be in better shape then the physical fitness freak that jumps from the latest fad diet or weight dropping workout routine.

Even if you don't own a treadmill you can still include walking in your everyday lifestyle. The next time you go to a store try parking in a space that's further away then where you normally park. The extra few steps each day can really start to add up in your quest towards a healthier lifestyle. Even if you don't own a treadmill perhaps the company you work for has an onsite gym that features a treadmill that you can use on an everyday or every other day basis for exercise.

Personally I prefer to do my power walking or power striding on a treadmill as opposed to doing it outside or in the local shopping mall. The convenience of using a treadmill far outweighs any benefits from other forms and areas of walking. The routine I normally follow in my treadmill walking for exercise last for about 30 minutes. I usually spend the first 3 minutes warming up with a slow walk (this is normally preceded by 10-15 minutes of quality stretching). I then increase my walking speed on the treadmill to a faster but still comfortable level for about 5 minutes. The next 15 minutes are then spent walking at an accelerated rate. Since I'm using a treadmill I also have the option of adding some resistance to my walking routine by throwing in some simulated hills or an incline. This can easily be accomplished by raising the treadmill bed with the incline buttons on the treadmill. The final 8 minutes of my treadmill walk include 5 minutes of a comfortable but brisk walk followed with a 3 minute cool down phase. I usually end my treadmill routine with about 15 minutes of quality stretching.

Although this walking routine on the treadmill doesn't have all the glitz and glamour of the latest workout method made popular by the numerous workout magazines is can still be an effective weight loss provider. The truth is walking is without a doubt one of the best forms of low impact exercise. When combining it with a treadmill you can actually start to see the calories being burned as you increase your metabolism.

Walking is a great form of exercise. Walking on a treadmill for exercise is an even stronger method to safely lose weight and improve your overall health and physical fitness condition. Treadmill walking for exercise is easy to accomplish and provides benefits that far out produce any fad diet or gimmicky workout routine.

Interval Training on the Treadmill

,
Workout Routines To Lose Weight :

Are you on a mission to lose weight? If this is so and you are serious about it your workouts probably involve some sort of treadmill exercises. The treadmill can be a great machine to aid in your weight loss goals. Treadmill training is popular because of the fact that it is relatively easy to buy and install a treadmill at your home. Let's say you get this brand new treadmill and are ready to begin your workout routines. You do a conventional treadmill workout for a couple weeks and are becoming bored with it. It now may be the time to start doing some interval training on treadmill type exercises.

Just by alternating the settings on your treadmill can give your muscles the variance and workout they need. In order for workouts to reach maximum effectiveness you must expose your muscles to different intensity levels within the same workout. Interval training on the treadmill accomplishes this goal. Try starting at your slow to moderate pace in your warm up and then increase the speed of the treadmill as you advance in the stages of the workout. By doing this you are performing a very basic interval type workout.

The key to any interval training on a treadmill is to vary not only the actual speed of the treadmill, but the incline and decline functions as well. Essentially your goal is to incorporate periods of both high intensity and low intensity within the same workout routine. With that said, there is no real standard interval treadmill training. Your workouts should be geared towards whatever you feel comfortable doing. We all work out with different goals in mind and those play the biggest role in determining how your specific interval training should be mapped out.

You will see that as you progress you will actually see yourself looking forward to your next treadmill routine with great anticipation. Why is this? This is because interval training on a treadmill is always changing and it is a natural human condition to be drawn to anything that is diverse and constantly changing rather than to be drawn to something that is very static and outright boring. After you see the results these workouts have as far as calories burned you will find yourself looking to get back on that treadmill as well.

Since any workout regimen is going to include a heavy dose of cardio type exercises you might as well make those parts of your workout as successful as possible. One of the great ways you can accomplish this is by interval training on treadmill type exercises. This type of training can be done at any time that you normally do your cardio workout, if you workout for 20 minutes, you could begin at a low intensity for 3 to 5 minutes then increase to at higher intensity for 3 to 5 minutes following this cycle for the entire workout. The time shown can be easily modified depending on your fitness level by decreasing or increasing the time for either low or high intensity.

What is good about this type of interval training, it can be used by the beginner or athlete who wants to increase their cardiovascular endurance or burn calories. As with all cardio exercises stay within your capabilities and do not exhaust yourself, stay within your target heart rate range to get the best benefit from interval training on the treadmill.
